The essence of «social competence» in psychological and pedagogical literature
Abstract
The urgency of the problem of forming the skills of social competence of adolescents is due to the search
for optimal ways to prepare them for independent living in both secondary and special schools.
The main purpose of a modern special secondary school is the adaptation and socialization of students
with intellectual disabilities to modern life. However, although society takes into account the peculiarities
of the development of this category of children for their full and comfortable development (expanding
opportunities for further education and employment, active implementation of tolerance, etc.), but can
not reduce the existing level of general moral norms and rules. Therefore, the task of a special school is
to find optimal ways to form children’s social competencies.
