Abstract

The article examines approaches to designing individual educational trajectories for higher education students with special educational needs in the context of digital transformation and the development of inclusive policies in universities.

The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate and model the concept of smart inclusion as an integrative framework for creating flexible and personalized learning pathways in higher education. The concept is interpreted as a combination of the principles of Universal Design for Learning, digital accessibility of educational resources, and technologies of personalized educational design.

Research methods include the analysis and synthesis of scientific literature on inclusive and digital education, a comparative analysis of international practices supporting students with special educational needs, and pedagogical modeling of the structure of individual educational trajectories within the university environment. Elements of structural and functional analysis were used to determine the key components of student-centered educational design.

The results of the study include the development of a conceptual model of smart inclusion that integrates digital technologies, adaptive learning tools, and pedagogical support strategies for students with special educational needs. The model emphasizes individualized learning planning, digital accessibility of the educational environment, the development of students’ self-advocacy skills, and institutional support at the university level. The findings indicate that the use of digital platforms, adaptive learning resources, and learning analytics tools facilitates the formation of flexible learning pathways and increases the effectiveness of educational interaction.

The proposed smart inclusion model expands opportunities for implementing individual educational trajectories in higher education and promotes the transition from formal accessibility to the systematic design of inclusive educational environments. Its implementation enhances student autonomy, strengthens their participation in planning their own learning process, and contributes to the development of more flexible and personalized educational strategies in modern universities.
