INTEGRATION OF INCLUSIVE APPROACHES TO HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The article deals with the urgent problem of integrating inclusion into higher education, which is a necessary and important component of the formation of a modern developed society on the basis of sustainable development. The author emphasises that the integration of inclusive approaches to higher education in Ukraine requires innovative support in both the organisational, technological and programmatic and conceptual dimensions. The article uses general scientific methods for theoretical research. The aim is to substantiate the need for inclusiveness in higher education institutions on the basis of sustainable development; to identify current socio-cultural challenges, to outline their impact on inclusive education and to show ways to overcome these challenges in the inclusive space of a modern university. These challenges include the historical conservatism of higher education, the complexity of the practical transformation of the higher education system, the focus on the fundamentality of the educational process, the integrity and unification of educational programmes, and the vulnerability to negative socio-cultural factors (global, force majeure, etc.). Overcoming these challenges is essential for inclusive progress.
It is proved that the optimal paradigm for implementing inclusion in higher education is the concept of sustainable development to ensure accessibility and continuity of education for all. Sustainable development of higher education implies the orderliness of three main elements: in the global aspect - ensuring quality higher education; in the strategic aspect - developing ways to implement inclusive education in the university space; in the operational and practical aspect - determining educational policy directly in a higher education institution. The author points out that the problem here is the practical impossibility of achieving such a balance. Therefore, for effective educational inclusion in higher education, it is necessary to develop a flexible systemic model that will correlate with the principles of sustainable development, while focusing on the realities and specifics of organising an inclusive educational space in a particular higher education institution.
