THE CONTRIBUTION OF SCHOLARS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEORY AND PRACTICE OF SPEECH THERAPY IN UKRAINE: A HISTORICAL ASPECT

Abstract

This article is dedicated to analyzing the contributions of prominent Ukrainian speech therapists to the development of special education and speech therapy, focusing on the historical development and contemporary application of their achievements. The purpose of this article is to investigate and highlight the contributions of distinguished Ukrainian speech therapists to the development of special education and speech therapy. The article focuses on analyzing the historical evolution of methodologies and approaches developed by these scientists and their relevance and application in contemporary conditions of special education and speech therapy. The following research methods were used to achieve the objectives of the article: the historical-genetic method to trace the development of ideas and approaches; the biographical method to analyze the life paths and scientific achievements of Ukrainian scholars in special education and speech therapy in particular; document and literature analysis to systematize and summarize information; and content analysis to study the content of scientific works and identify key concepts. Results. The research confirmed the significant contribution of individual Ukrainian scholars to special education and speech therapy. The analysis of the scientific and pedagogical activities of prominent scholars in the field of speech therapy reveals a deep exploration of specific problems and the development of methodologies that are effectively implemented in contemporary speech therapy practice today. This underscores the importance of historical experience in the field of corrective pedagogy and speech therapy, as well as its importance in forming the methodological foundations of modern approaches to the correction of speech disorders. Integrating past achievements with contemporary technologies and theoretical models opens new perspectives for the development of speech therapy as a science aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of corrective measures and improving the quality of life for individuals with speech disorders. Conclusions. The research findings emphasize the need to preserve and integrate the scientific heritage of distinguished speech therapists into modern special education, which will enhance the quality of educational programs and professional training of future speech therapists. The results confirm the significance of the historical context in the development of speech therapy and highlight the importance of further research in this area.
