APPLICATION OF THE CONCEPT OF «MATHEMATICAL COMPETENCE» IN WORKING WITH CHILDREN WHO HAVE SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS»
Abstract
The article implements a systematic approach to building subject-oriented mathematical competence. The concept of determining competence is introduced - a competence test, its specifics for determining readiness for mathematical activities are considered. An analysis of the phenomena and reasons for the reduction of mathematical competence in the educational process is given. Of great interest is the analysis of procedural and situational characteristics of the formation of mathematical competence given in the article.
In world educational practice, the concept of «competence» acts as a central, «key» concept, since competence, firstly, combines the intellectual and skill components of education; secondly, the ideology of the interpretation of the content of education, which is formed from the requirements to the result, is embedded in this concept; thirdly, the key competence includes an integrative nature, it includes a number of homogeneous or synonymous knowledge and abilities that relate to broad spheres of culture and activity. The competent approach, which is actively developing, has a hard time overcoming all the complexity, multidimensionality and ambiguity of the interpretation of both its basic concepts and the approach to the process and result of education based on it.
The main task of the modern education system is the formation of a harmoniously developed personality, a specialist competitive in the modern labor market, who is able to think systematically, analyze, compare, and practically solve the life and professional problems posed to him. And this means that a graduate of an educational institution must be able to make independent decisions, work in a team, be proactive, capable of innovation, ready for overloads, stressful situations, and be able to get out of them. The competence approach to the formation of the content and organization of the educational process is aimed at the formation of these qualities. It is assumed that the basis of the updated content of general education will be the formation and development of key competencies of students. From a practical point of view, the competency-based approach is a means of strengthening the applied, practical nature of all school education (including subject learning). Knowledge of basic mathematical laws and rules, quantitative research methods, algebraic calculation methods is one of the most important requirements for the professional activity of a modern specialist. The student's mathematical competence contributes to the adequate application of mathematics to solve the problems of everyday life.
