FEATURES OF IMPLEMENTING THE PRINCIPLE OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN WITH MENTAL DISORDERS: PEDAGOGICAL ASPECT
Abstract
The article highlights the pedagogical aspects of implementing the principle of conscious awareness in the education of children with intellectual disabilities. Particular attention is paid to analyzing the theoretical and methodological approaches to establishing pedagogical conditions that demonstrate the effectiveness of applying this principle in the instruction of schoolchildren with intellectual disabilities. It is noted that the principle of conscious awareness forms the foundation of effective pedagogical support, encompassing the individualization of instruction, the step-by-step mastery of learning activities, the stimulation of motivation, and the active engagement of students with intellectual disabilities in educational activities. The article emphasizes that the implementation of the principle of conscious learning for children with intellectual disabilities is based on key aspects: the execution and mastery of purposeful educational and practical activities; and the development of cognitive operations that enable the child to become aware of, comprehend, and understand the material by identifying key elements for solving practical tasks and by verbalizing the information grasped. It is emphasized that the specific developmental needs of children with mental disabilities necessitate the search for unique educational approaches and the transformation of the modern education system to create an optimal psycho-pedagogical environment. Establishing such conditions for these students fosters their social development and integration into society. This factor plays a significant role in enhancing their quality of life and facilitating the process of personal self-determination.
Despite the scientific substantiation of the principle of conscious awareness in the education of children with intellectual disabilities, the practical mechanisms for integrating this principle into the educational process remain insufficiently explored in contemporary psychological and pedagogical research. In particular, specific pedagogical aspects—ranging from updating the content of educational activities to implementing appropriate methods and organizational forms—have been overlooked by researchers. It has been demonstrated that the practical implementation of this principle within the educational environment is a fundamental factor ensuring the comprehensive social development of schoolchildren with intellectual disabilities and facilitating their successful socialization.
