FEATURES OF SOCIAL-COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN older preschool children with ASD
Abstract
The article is devoted to the question of communication skills determining as a necessary stage in the development of their diagnosis and development methods in older preschool children with ASD. Today, there is no unambiguously defined list of communication skills. In the scientific literature, there is certain diversity in the interpretation and definition of communication skills, which is due to the complexity of the communication process and, accordingly, its explanation from different points of view. On the basis of theoretical analysis and generalization, an attempt was made to define communicative skills based on their interpretation in terms of communicative competence.
It was established that because of the impairment of social aspect speech in older preschool children with ASD, the social and communicative skills development that provide the informational and communicative communication’s function is a priority. This is confirmed by the pilot study’s results, which revealed a predominantly low level of their development. Children with ASD demonstrated the worst development level of “communicating information” skill. They had significant difficulties in “expressing requests and demands” and the ability to “attract attention and ask questions”. Children with ASD show the best developed of “naming, commenting on and describing objects, people, actions, events” skill. The conclusion was made about the need to find ways to improve corrective work on the development of social and communicative skills in preschool children with ASD.
