Abstract

This article offers an in-depth analysis and scientific substantiation of a modern methodology for teaching psycho-pedagogical diagnostics of individuals with special educational needs (SEN). It meticulously details the key components essential for the effective and comprehensive training of future specialists – psychologists, educators, defectologists, and special education teachers.

Primary attention is paid not only to forming comprehensive theoretical knowledge in specialists regarding the essence, causes, and developmental characteristics of children with various types of SEN, but also to fostering a deep understanding of their unique needs. A critical aspect is developing the ability for in-depth and accurate interpretation of diagnostic data, which demands systematic analysis of information from diverse sources.

The methodology emphasizes the integration of theoretical foundations with extensive practical skills. This is achieved through the active use of innovative pedagogical methods such as case studies, where specialists analyze real clinical situations; trainings, which allow for practicing specific diagnostic techniques; and simulation exercises, which mimic the full diagnostic process cycle in conditions as close to real-life as possible. This approach guarantees the formation of practical readiness for professional activity.

A key element is also the development of critical thinking for objective situation assessment, self-reflection, and bias avoidance, as well as cultivating high ethical responsibility in working with children, their families, and confidential information. The article substantiates that only such a comprehensive, practice-oriented, and ethically balanced approach to specialist training can ensure high-quality and effective psycho-pedagogical support for children with SEN within an inclusive educational environment, contributing to their full development and successful social integration.
