PREPARATORY COURSE FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE INCLUSIVE POLICY OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION (MOHAWK COLLEGE EXPERIENCE, CANADA)

Abstract

At the present stage, the creation of an inclusive educational environment is one of the important tasks of higher education, a significant number of students with special educational needs, as well as students in need of social support, are involved in medical universities. The purpose of the article: to present international experience in organizing preparatory courses for students of medical specialties of a higher education institution (using the example of the PRE LINC course at Mohawk College). The main research methods are: methods of theoretical analysis of literary sources and results of modern research presented in electronic scientific publications included in the scientometric databases PubMed, Index Copernicus, Ulrich’s Periodicals, Google Scholar, etc.; analysis of national and international regulatory documents, materials of the official website of Mohawk College (Canada); generalization of the author’s scientific and practical experience. Based on the results of the study of the inclusive approach in medical programs, the experience and effective practices of ensuring equal access to education using the example of Mohawk College have been updated: organization of a preparatory course, information support, activities of the center for the accessibility of educational services, barrier-free educational space, technical support, social support, favorable psychological climate. Further study is required of the issues related to the implementation of inclusive technologies and relevant areas of socio-psychological support in medical institutions of higher education. In this context, the generalization of international experience and the internationalization of the activities of a higher education institution are of particular importance.
