Abstract

The article deals with the problem of organising inclusive education in higher education institutions of Ukraine. The importance of attracting students with special educational needs to higher education is emphasised, which is an important factor in personal growth and social integration of the individual.

The main directions of activity of higher education institutions that promote the involvement of students with special educational needs in the educational process are investigated. The following organisational aspects are highlighted: creation of a specialised material and technical base, ensuring architectural accessibility, introduction of adaptive teaching technologies, training of teachers to work in inclusive groups. Special attention is paid to the issue of digital inclusion and accessibility of online educational services for students with SEN. The role of psychological support and social support for persons with disabilities while studying at a higher education institution is emphasised.

An analysis of studies covering the state and trends of inclusive education in higher education is carried out, in particular, the role of the Open International University of Human Development «UKRAINE» in the implementation of effective practices of inclusive education in higher education is noted. Particular emphasis is placed on academic inclusion at this university, namely, the adaptation of curricula and teaching methods for students with special educational needs. The experience of the University of «UKRAINE» confirms that comprehensive support for students with the involvement of specialists of various profiles contributes to their successful learning and socialisation.

Particular attention is paid to the inclusive activities of Lviv Polytechnic National University, where the Veteran Development Centre has been established, which is an example of an inclusive approach to teaching veterans and students with special educational needs. It is noted that today the Ukrainian higher education system is developing inclusive education in accordance with European standards, but there is a need to form a unified state policy in this area.

The article summarises the main prospects for the development of inclusive education in higher education in Ukraine. It is found that despite the significant progress of higher education institutions in ensuring accessibility and social integration, a number of problems related to financing, regulation and specialised training are urgent. The directions for improving inclusive education proposed in this article can serve as a basis for further reforms in the field of education.
